Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Thanks everyone

Moew123 - We are talking about crossbreed horses. Crossbreeds are a mix of different breeds brought into one horse.

what do you think would be a really great cross for dressage? low in dressage, high in both gallop and trot...

Aw sorry about the double postdefault smiley :(
What about mustang and curly? both are relatively low in dressage (although i would prefer lower) and one is good in trot while the other is good in gallop.

I was wondering if you guys think that Crillos and Quarters would be a good mix breed. Thanks for your input!
i think so, your best 3 skills would be stamina speed and dressage, with gallop coming in as a close 4th. relatively low in both jumping and trot.

Okay, thanks! I now have a Argentinian Crillo foundation mare and a Quarter Horse foundation stallion. So Im going to try for NIB crossbreeds.
@SilverLotus - Tell me how it goes. It seems like a pretty interesting mix!

@Chain - I might try that cross one day. I don't have many horses good at cutting.

My most recent endevor with the freisianXmustang has born fruit,

my 2 1st gen crosses now rank 3rd and 4th in mustang breed ranking (non-purebred of course)
and just today I got the first foal of the 2 crosses
Note: the 2 first gen crosses are not related as i planned to breed then togeather from start.

their first foal has about 116 inborn skill and 620gp (mustang)
Wow Chain! That sounds like good horses! Seems like you got yourself a really good cross! I might try some later.

i'm going to breed a vaner with a fjord is it a good idea???default smiley :(
I breed mainly purebreds and mainly Unicorns at that but as a dressage horse I have found that the walker is great as a pure bred. If you could cross it with something with a high gallop then it might be better.
