Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Thanks everyone

Here's my best cross breed experiment so far:
http://ca.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=757777

Breed/s:
Teke x Hanno (for high stamina, dressage and jumping) x TB (for speed and gallop)

GP:
921.76 GP, 41 Stars, 3 red stars

He is high in 5 out of the 6 skills, I was trying to create a horse that had all round medium to high skills, I'm pretty happy with how he turned out, pity he doesn't win any rosettes though. XD

Now just to try and find a way to get the trot skill up for future breedings default smiley :p

Regards
Drezella

@Drezella
Try crossing the TB with a high GP friesian, then breed it with the Teke x Hanno.

I've been dabbling with crossbreeding for a little bit now, and have found at least one combination that doesn't really work. Fjiords x TBs, pretty much a useless combo. Paints x Friesians, on the other hand, are great. High speed, dressage, gallop AND trot skills, pretty great competition horse if you ask me. Now, once you get into the three or four different breeds crossing together, you can produce some awesome skillers. Any tips? Please let me know default smiley :)

hello!
nice to meet all...
even if it's just little time that I'm here, I'm not new to the game and it is time that I am passionate about crossbreeding...
usually I not combine more than 2 breeds and the best results I get them with mix of breeds that have the same characteristics
in this way I noticed, that when reaches the right percentage, horses arriving before at the star of excellence, compensating for the shortcomings of the pure breedsdefault smiley :)

here I am trying a mix Friesian x trotter
this is because the Friesian horse is not a pure dressage, has stamina high that is not useful to dressage and for dressage trot as the secondary ability is more important than the gallop,
that's why I chose the trotter, the result of starting is a crossbreeding with 87,5 fresian and 12,5 trotter, has lowered stamina and high the trot
for the same genetics with the pure Friesian, the crossbreed has a star of excellence in more for trotdefault smiley :)

I love the crossbreeding, when you reach a good result there is a lot of satisfactiondefault smiley :d

if I can help are availabledefault smiley :)
good game at all!

default smiley :'(I'm trying to do a well balanced cross, but I can't even finish the first step...Can someone help me out? I need to cover my stallion with a 900+ gp quarter horse mare but I don't have a mare and they're so expensive in the sales (they usually cost passes, wich I don't have) and I don't want to waste passes on a horse I will only breed once.
By Retired breeder, 20th August 2013 19:02:14
Instructions:
-Breed a skiller QH mare/stallion with a skiller Freisian (900+ GP)
-Blup the foal to 100, breed it with a 100+ BLUP skiller thoroughbred
-Blup the foal to 100, breed it with a 100+ BLUP skiller hanoverian

Tips:
ALWAYS used full blupped skiller horses
the hanoverian will max out the jumping skills of the foal
the thoroughbred will max out the gallop skills of the foal
when you breed the QH, Freisian, Thoroughbred foal, use a Fertility wand, then use a Zeus' lightning bolt on one, you can then breed more of the exact breed
share the idea with friends

This will create the best foal in howrse
If this goes well, tell me i would like some credit for the idea

This is what I am trying to do. I copied it from someone who posted it in the gameplay forum (and got sanctioned for it) but I forgot their userdefault smiley :(

Although I changed it slightly, so that every single horse must have all skills bolded, and every horse included should have over 900GP and for the last one, aphrodites tears and Pstone for the fwand twins

i have a female Ahkal-Teke and she is ten months pregnant but the problem is that this is i cant buy aging points because i do not want to waste my money so i need some advice on how to get aging points, i also need you to tell me how long it will take for my mare to give birth, and how to take care and raise my pony healthly.
By Retired breeder, 2nd September 2013 17:48:46

If she's ten months along, I would just wait until tomorrow. As long as you put her to bed, she will age overnight, like all horses. It takes 12 howrse months from the moment you cover your mare, till she gives birth (or 6 aging points).

Do all of the breeds have all-stars?
By Retired breeder, 9th September 2013 07:37:56
I'd do a Frech. T mixed in with a Shetland for a really good trot x jumping breed then

breed them with a Arabian x Welsh mix.

To make the ultimate, I'm good at everything horse.

Then just to add some pizazz we could drop in a Connerma for some Stamina.

then breed them with a Fjord to make a speed machine.

Like my idea? default smiley ^)default smiley (b)default smiley (lol)

I Tried PSH to akhal teke, lol it didn't go over very well, as the PSH's haven't developed much yet, I think the best one out there only has 550 gp default smiley ^)

Hmm. Not really sure where to start just yet. On this server I started with Arabs and I'm kinda wanting to do Araloosas (Arab x Appie) to go along with my International account's crossbreed group.

Does anyone know of a good cross with Paints? I've been breeding them for a bit and wanted to try something new.. default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 22nd October 2013 01:07:22
What will happen if I cross my arabian with my French trotter??
By Retired breeder, 22nd October 2013 01:13:00
Posting links to the parents will help a lot, to learn how to post links check out the How to Post a Clickable Link .The basics of cross breeding though is that if it's a 50/50 cross the foal will be the breed of the father and otherwise the foal will be the breed with the highest percentage.

By Retired breeder, 22nd October 2013 13:35:40

By Retired breeder, 24th October 2013 04:32:33

wow nice, that must be a nice horse now
By Retired breeder, 10th November 2013 12:50:03
i bred a 800GP fresian with a 900GP hanno, and that's what i got. Its good in everything except trot- what breed would fix that problem?
This is my Crossbreeding Experiment. I took a 1142 GP fresian mare and bred her to an 1003 GP Quarter Stallion using a F wand and A Tears and the resulting foals are alright. I guess. 1075 GP Quarter Horses. I have excellency stars on all 6 skills.
