I'm aiming for getting all the skills to be at the same level. Right now, I'm using my mare Alice:

can horses and pony's breed together?
|
By Retired breeder, 11th June 2012 02:24:54
Well my Nez Perce crossings did not do well at all so I disbanded it. Has anyone ever thought about trying it with fully blupped horses of Akhal Teke and Appaloosa yet? Like I said mine failed because I lacked patience with blupping them first. My bad. I'm considering another go with KnabsXAppaloosa or AppyXQH, not sure which yet. Leaning with Knabs. May consider partnering but not joining a group. Adults only please.

How do you cross-breed with other people? ( im new-ish) oh and to anser your Question emilyl, yes, horses and ponies can breed together as i am currintly breeding a Fresian stallion ( i got it by completing an objective) and a connemarra mare. (my first pony)
im just waiting to see the results! |

My crossbreeding program is shaping up nicely! I have some good PB base breeding stock to work with (still working on getting myself a TB in my GP range though) and am now trying to get a male and a female of each cross I'm working with. The breeds I'm working with are friesian, paint, TB, teke, and hano. I would like to expand, but don't have the horsepower!
And hey, if anyone wants to buddy up and breed with me, by all means! |

Anyone got any hints on brigning down the Dressage and putting it out along the other skills? That's what I'm aiming for in my mixed breed Equalist's foal once I breed him.

You can not advertise for horses or breedings on the forums.

Wow cerberus... You know, the only brred I can currently think of with low dressage would be a mustang!
|

I fear that breeding him with a mustang would bring up speed too much. I was thinking Hanoverian for the next one. Equalist's lowest skill is Jumping, and a Hanno's highest is Jumping. Hopefully that will bring down the dressage and won't boost jumping so much that everything becomes unbalanced.

is it possible to breed a horse here that has a bit of each breed?
|
By Retired breeder, 21st June 2012 22:37:19
The answer is both yes and no. Only 5 breed shows on the horses page however there could be more then those 5 breeds in the horse if you look back into the linage.

I have a Thoroughbred mare on the UK version and I want to crossbreed her so I was wondering what breed would be good? I was thinking an Arabian so it would be an Anglo-Arab but what would be the top 3 skills and what competitions would it be good at? Thanks

Cerberus - I have a tip - I don't know if this will work or not - I just had a wild idea. LOL I was thinking that maybe you could just not train them in dressage, and get the rest of the skills where you want them but just not train in dressage, if you don't want high dressage. I hope that helps.

Wait - cutieincradle - you can do that? Breed any horse with an arab and get a shagya? I'll have to try that!
|
By Retired breeder, 10th July 2012 23:03:39
When you cross breed, if the horse is 50/50 the foal will be the fathers breed, if its anything other then 50/50 then the breed will be what ever is the most percent. That just means that there was more Shagya percent in the breeding.

I wonder what will happen if you cross a Curly with a Purebred Spanish horse/Shagya Arabian?
|
By Retired breeder, 12th July 2012 16:40:21
Has anyone tried to breed four different types of horses( Not pure bred horses) Toghether? What would happen if I bred a Purebred Spanish Horse/Sagya Arabian mare with a French Trotter / Fresian Stallion?
|
Tigerlily, if each breed is 25% for the foal, the breed 'look' so to say will be random. It's a surprise!
As to the resulting skills, all I can tell you is it will be an average of the four. I don't cross with PSH or Shagya so I don't know their skills well enough to guess. Experiment and see! That's the fun of cross breeding from my experience Please post the results if you do the cross, it would be interesting to see, I think!

I know that thoroughbreds and Akhal Tekes make good crosses, but would a paint and a thoroughbred? If not, what would be good to cross with a paint?
|
By Retired breeder, 13th July 2012 16:11:10
I recently bred a Akhal teke french trotter mix. All I have to do is pair her up with a thoroughbred or another horse good in gallop and I'll be well on my way to a good comp horse.
