Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Thanks everyone

Hello, I was planning on breeding two horses, as an experimentation mostly, and I was wondering if this is accurate to what the outcome might be?

SIRE
Knabstrupper 50.00%
Friesian 25.00%
Hanoverian 25.00%

DAM
Friesian 50.00%
Hanoverian 50.00%

FOAL
Knabstrupper 50.00%
Friesian 37.50%
Hanoverian 37.50%

( What I did for the foal was add the two common breeds percentages (Friesian & Hanoverian) and divided them by two to get the average of the two. But I'm not for sure if that was the correct way of doing it? )

Correction to the foal's percentage:
Knabstrupper 25.00%
Friesian 37.50%
Hanoverian 37.50%

Does anyone have tips for cross-breeding to get the 3 top skills to be what they want? I want a horse that will have the top 3 be dressage, trot, and gallop.
Try breeding a high gp friesians, trotters and thoroughbreds together to try to raise the trot, gallop and dressage.

Hey all,
I'm curious to see if anyone knows some breeds I'd have luck with to get a crossbreed that excels in Barrel Racing/Cutting? (speed, gallop, stamina, maybe dressage) Trying something new with XBreeds for fun :3

Try something with thoroughbred or welsh pony (speed, gallop, and dressage) and possibly quarter horse (stamina, dressage) or criollo (stamina, and if I remember correctly, speed and gallop)

Thoroughbred and quarter horses are a popular cross. I like mine and they perform very well in western disciplines.

Hope this helps! default smiley :)
I would love to start cross breeding higher skilled/GP horses but the ungelded ones are always expensive.. Any tips on getting good horses that are affordable and easy? default smiley :$

Some teams will send covers out for crossbreeding. Try messaging them for high gp covers for crossbred purposes.

Hi everyone got a question, what is the purpose of cross breeding
By Retired breeder, 31st July 2019 19:31:56

I think most people just do it for fun. It's also a good way to train horses for a specific event.
Bumping so we don't lose this thread.

Several months late but... Some of us find it quite lucrative...! default smiley ;)

I crossbreed to allow the creation of skillsets for specific competitions that do not exist within current purebred breeds on the server. It allows for more variety as you can just introduce a small amount of another breed to boost certain skills.

We have also created some useful crossbred allrounder skillers that result in Legendary horses that can enter rosette comps in multiple disciplines when given all 5 pieces of the tack and skills are doubled.

Is there any breeds out there that matches ups with Dressage comes? Their three highest skills would be: Dressage, Trot, Gallop. If not I’d like to try to breed a match. Any suggestions for what breeds to use?

Try breeding a high gp friesians, trotters and thoroughbreds together to try to raise the trot, gallop and dressage.

How does one go about finding stallions to purchase or arranging covers once you've hit the roof of how high public GP coverings will go? I'm almost to the place on my Arab/Hano crosses where I'll have a foal that surpasses, and I'm not sure where to go from there without breaking the bank.
