This forum tends to be really quiet, especially if you are used to the pace of things on International.

Yes, it does seem that way.

I like your gypsy-teke Emoo
Of all, I would suggest to breed horses that have good speed and dressage since they will be good at racing and showjumping |

I have started a Arab and Shagya cross-breeding program. We are called Sharabs of the Sahara. Here's what it's about:
1. We breed full BLUP Arabians to full BLUP Shagya Arabians to get the Sharab. It is a new "breed". 2. The group breeds these Sharabs to other Sharabs once they are full BLUPPED to keep up the 50%/50% strain. (Arab+Shagya=50% Arab/50% Shagya<<Sharab. Sharab+Sharab=50% Arab/40% Shagya=Sharab) Get it? Ok. 3. So far here are the players in the group: Avi (me) and hunterjumpinggirl. So I'm looking for more players to join the group. 4. Requirements: You do NOT have to be a pass buyer You must have at least 10 days seniority (access to auctions and BMI trade center) You don't have to know how to BLUP as I can tell you the best ways to do so You need to either have memorized the Foal Games or get a copy from me (unless you already have a copy) since we perform the Foal Games on EVERY foal If you are interested, please PM me. Thanks, Avi |

Huh... I am considering breeding my Nakota to my Welshes... How do you think that'll turn out?
I tried Welshes to paints... I sure hope it worked... |
By Retired breeder, 7th March 2012 01:53:20
Hello! I am new to the concept of cross-breeding, even though I hads always done it. I am breeding French-Paint.
I have a question: does the breed of the dam/sire matter? |
By Retired breeder, 7th March 2012 02:01:35
The foal will usually be the same breed as the sire, but otherwise it doesn't really matter which horse is which breed.
|
Is any one working with quarter horse x thoroughbred? Or, possibly quarter horse X french trotter? I know how the QH/TB turns out and am looking for one to use as a stud.
If anyone has produced a QH/FT, I would like to see how they turn out.

I'll bite
I breed Hanos, but my goal is to get them up there in the Dressage rankings, so I crossbreed with Friesians and sometimes PSHs. I also breed pure PSHs. I just joined, so have only just started with my program and have yet to fully BLUP my foundation stallion.. haha but once that happens and I get some mares BLUPed, we will see what pops out! |

On my game on another server, I've had success with TB/French Trotter crosses
*Darling*: I gave Friesian/Akhal-teke and the foal turned out ok, I'm glad that you have had success with them! |
By Retired breeder, 18th March 2012 18:40:07
I recently bought a horse that's 25% teke, 25% paint and 50% thoroughbred. His stamina, speed and dressage are all equal and his gallop is pretty good. I'm thinking of breeding him to a friesian/teke, I think that will turn out well.
I also did a TB/FT, was kind of disappointed with the results, but alas, what can you do? I'll just experiment with her once she's blupped. I also tried TB/Hano just for fun. Foal is coming soon, but I might just age and see... |
By Retired breeder, 19th March 2012 16:14:04
So I aged my mare to have the baby born... hano/TB was disappointing, too. Guess I'm not terribly apt at this, oh well. More experimenting with this foal, too, I suppose!
But I did create myself an affix for them . Oh So Experimental. May as well make my silliness at least look a little fancier! |
By Retired breeder, 19th March 2012 21:50:12
I've experimented with a lot of crosses, especially ones involving friesans. I recently bred a foal thats part French Trotter, Akhal-Teke, Quarter Horse and Friesian. Here's the link if you want to check him out http://ca.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=324496
|
I tried a Frecn/Friesian and now I`m selling to Skylyla. Hope to see if it works well soon. My next job is TB/QH!

On the international server me and a friend are trying to breed crosses which will hopeuflly dominate the western comps board eventually, and even though we just started and are still experimenting with a bunch of different breeds, Paint/Gypsy crosses seem to turn out good. They're pretty good with cutting comps.
