Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Thanks everyone

i want to try crossbreading but i dont know what breed to use, right now i have thoroughbreds. what breed should i cross them with do you think?
By Retired breeder, 27th March 2011 00:57:16
i was thinking the french trotter or the akael-???? ( sorry)
By Retired breeder, 27th March 2011 01:07:52
It would depend on which skills you would like to improve on or for which comp.'s you'd like the horse to excel in.
By Retired breeder, 27th March 2011 01:22:40
It all depends on what skill you want to improve, like Mephist said. FT would bump up the trot and Akhal-Teke would bump up stamina.
tbxFrench Trotter

That is around what you would get for skills for a FTTB cross give or take gp and such for an example.

I'm into Anglos so if you're a beginner I'd just go for An Arabian/Thoroughbred cross. The stat bonus would be nice I'd imagine.

has anyone been breeding FT/TB?? I have a mare (of this cross) currently, i want to max out her gait skills. Has anyone got a stallion with top gallop and trot?? This is proving hard to find, most crosses I have seen have been for jumpers...I want dressage skills!!

I have a PSHxFriesian cross that I'm looking to breed soon, do you guys think I should lean towards one of those breeds or choose a new one for the stallion?

hi I was wondering if anyone was breeding for show jumping skills? I am using my arab/PSH mare crossed with shetlands, this evens out the top 3 skills. I am looking for cross stallions to breed to the next generation. So far I can only find pure shetland or hano's to increase the jumping. Any suggestions??default smiley (o) Thanks!

You get a foal. Nothing bad happens in this game to inbred horses, All the high gp horses have been bred to relatives

Hi,

I want to breed my crosbred Hano stallion Timothy ± X-Crossed Equines ± with a mare that would offer me an expert Show Jump horse. Seeing as I am still inexperienced in such matters, do you guys know what breed would be best to use with him in order to get such a foal?

Thanks!

I am wondering what breed of horse I should choose for my Quarter Horses for a boost in Cross Country I tried Spanish Horses and Arabian Horses but they are not as Cross Country centered as I expected. I was thinking of breeding with an Akaal-Teke ( yes I know I spelt it wrong ) or a Hanoverian. What do you guys think?
