[info/FT] Cross Breeders

I might try cross-breeding. Does anyone know a good breed to cross with a Shetland to get a horse good at trot racing and show jumping? I know it is probably obvious, but I just want to know if that is the only breed that would work. Thanks!

Im not an excpert, but if you want mainly Jumping, would cross with a Hanoverian. If you want the trot and Jump skills, ' cross with a F trotter
|
What hiddenmeadows said. And if you really want -high- trot, then you could use both? FT for mainly trot, and the hano and shetlands for jump. I have a preoccupation with trios.

On a topic note, My French Spanish horse.. That cross needs a name.. now has a GP of 354.51 after games! Only 2 points behind the purebreds. (in Sales at least)

Pretty sure my cross breeds are going to be better than my Frenchies. They seem to be behind the others with GP around 352 on the board right now. |

I just bred my first cross (well, actually my first ever ), and it's 50% Shetland, 50% Arabian. What competition will s/he do best in? I think cross country, but I'm not sure.
|
Symphony- My brain is half asleep right now, so don't quote me , I think It would do well in xCountry, but I would have to look at when its born. And I also don't remember what xCountry requires atm
hiddenmeadows- are you really?? we could have a little uni xover~ I would love that if you are willing to do it. Are you not anymore? |
By Retired breeder, 5th February 2011 03:17:01
Im really busy with my AT but I could probably squeeze in some time! And what do you mean by Uni xover. Unis can only be pure-bred...
|
Symphony- I checked the stats of your horse and such, and I think it might to well or better in galloping races, because gallop will stay the same, dressage would go up a bit, speed would be in between, but your stamina will be way down because the shetland is only around 42 stamina. But this is my opinion. If Cheiron or Dragoniys say differently, listen to them.
hiddenmeadows- I need to start speaking in full sentences I think. Lazy fingers. I meant switch coverings and such between. I did know that. I shall blame it on being late at night. Happy Howrsing you Western-side people. I shall definitely be lurking sometime tomorrow. Night~ |

Im thinking to mix some Freisian into my cross. I recently got a Hano x AT with over 100 IBS and great GP. I hope to breed her to a Freisian Stud

My newest addition
Arthur PSHxTrotter I actually used tears on him(love HOPs). So Happy with him. Except for the fact that he's male. Again. Might need to get a bolt. We'll see. |
Oooo Friesian would be nice. What are you going for? -bad memory-
