Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Thanks everyone

50/50 means that it's half one breed and half another or 50% out of 100%.

Wow...this topic is really dead on this server. So it's decided, I'm gonna do Nez Perce (AT/App) and Friwalker - or Free Walker as I call it- (Fri/TW).
Those seem like pretty good mixes, MoonRider. I am trying out different cross breeds for all around skills for the prix. That way I have one horse that's good for everything. So far I have tried hano/freisian and it turned out pretty good, I'm ging to skill it soon to see what I can end up with.

Many thanks. Trying to do something different on each server. Kinda itching to do an 'all breed' horse since it may go faster on these smaller servers than International.
I like using a fresian mare and thoroughbred stallion it makes a really good cross in my opinion. default smiley :)

I started doing mainly Fjord/Frisian crosses but i throw in shetland blood as well, so they arent really crosses...

It's still a cross, just not 50/50. The more the merrier in my opinion.

Does anyone know if there's a TN Walker team that's giving cross coverings or know the top public covering?
By Retired breeder, 7th September 2014 11:16:58
No idea about the TN Walkers, I breed Arabian/Frieisian horse mixes. They've all turned out very well.

What about Appaloosas? Or does anyone have an Appaloosa/AT cross stallion I could use coverings from?
This topic is not to be used to ask for sales or coverings thank you.

What I think is,
Say you had bred a purebred Arabian Horse with a purebred Quarter Horse,
When you looked at the 'Genetic Potinetial' tab on your horse's page, at the bottom of that page, there would be the part that says what breed the horse is: Quarter Horse (50%), and Arabian Horse (50%)
I hope that makes sensedefault smiley (lol)

pugs: Akal-Teke/Thoroughbred is a great one for either Western or Classical, I breed those on the US server with great success.
By Retired breeder, 26th November 2014 23:38:44
what breeds are the best for each skill?
By Retired breeder, 27th November 2014 00:20:29
A quick look at the horse rankings will help answer that.
By Retired breeder, 27th November 2014 01:27:13
sweet and has anyone on here have a horse that has all breeds in its bloodlines in equal amounts? I think that would be cool
By Retired breeder, 27th November 2014 11:48:43
The max it can have is 5 different horses mixed into it.
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2014 04:13:54
hmmmm that will make my decision more difficult
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2014 04:21:05
where is that stated in the directory? I must of missed it
By Retired breeder, 28th November 2014 11:45:49
You can breed to as many breeds as you like but when you check the genetic's tab of your horse only 5 breeds will ever show as being part of the horse's genetic make up.
