Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Thanks everyone

So I wanted to experiment and actually I'm pretty happy with the result. My pure Welshes are still my main project, but this is worth a bit of time as well I think.

I do crossbreeding to improve the gentic potinal in a breed.
By Retired breeder, 28th May 2015 04:08:44

That's what most of us do, however because you can never breed out what you breed in it will never be purebred and is only useful for personal horse or a Skiller or a Competition horse, usually they arnt good for breeding unless you want more crossbreds.
Personally I love crossbreeding but unfortunately most players see it as "tainting" the breed(s) rather than improving and thus view them as valueless default smiley :@

I'm not sure if this was a good or a bad cross.... Carter
I'm new to cross breeding as well so that doesn't help
Would this horse be good at anything?
By Retired breeder, 30th May 2015 17:44:27
I'm not sure cause 3 of the skills are practically all the same

Your lowest skill is Stamina, so try cross country for wins. He has a Dressage/Gallop/Jump skill set so the bonus for him is you only need to to forest rides for his skills. After doing cross country for wins go with Dressage comps to bold out Gallop. That's what I'd do with him anyway, I have a number of really good horses with that skill set on US.

As for good/bad, no cross is a *bad* one, it just depends on what you want to do with your crosses. Set a goal and choose horses with the skills in the right area for your cross.

I think he might be a good one for you default smiley (y) The cross I did to get that skill set on US was Nokota/TB.
@kaylamyhorse

That cross is pretty good. I like it.

Thanks Blue!
You're welcome kayla default smiley ^)

Hopefully those nicknames are all right. Cross-breeding is one of my hobbies on US.

Hopefully I won't get in trouble for posting this, it's a horse on my US account. Mods, this is the only one, I'm just showing kaylamyhorse what I mean.

Has anyone ever considered creating our own personal (and unofficial therefore unranked) crossbreeding team?

Do you have a goal, or just crossbreeding in general? By a goal do you mean a specific type of cross or even particular breeds? For example, I *have* thought of doing that on US, with both my English Akals (AT dominant/TB) and my Legendary Runners (top Gallop for PSH).

Hey shine i did have a psh cross breeding team on here but it kinda died out. It's fun because u can choose to crossbreed for skillers or for being good at particular competitions or creating ur own breed or recreating an existing breed that isn't on the game such as a warlander which is Fri X Andalusian. What did u have n mind?

Anyone got a good idea for a hano cross?
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 02:25:54

It really depends on what you want to do with it. Do you want a gallop or trot racer, a horse with higher stamina?

Pick what you want to do and choose a breed with a high skill level in that skill and fire away. It's a process of trial and error. I had to do 5 breedings before I got my Reining cross above.

As a side project I've started breeding Nez Perce horses (Appaloosa x Akhal Teke). One day they'll be good cutters I think. Though I feel bad because they are going to all be completely inbred (I don't have the funds to not do that). I know it doesn't matter for the game, it's just a personal preference.

Also I'm not even going to try and get the 20 wins to BLUP. I have enough trouble blupping my low gp paints, no way it's happening with these crosses.

Here's one of the foals

But Appaloosas really need some love on this server. Last time I checked the Appaloosa unicorns had higher GP than the horse Appaloosas!
