i just had a foal born. mom and dad are 50/50 mixes of the same breeds, both showing the same breed coat, but the foal is the other breed. is this normal?

It is simply a coincidence caused by statistics. I'll assume that you're talking about Elron340 and either Ember368.77 or Celestial354.54. Since Elron is a Friesian the only possible coat colour for him is black. For Ember or Celestial, which are Gypsy Vanners, their coats are caused by a relatively high statistic. Although black is not the most statistically common coat, it is one of the higher at a 10% probability of any Gypsy Vanner having a Black Coat. Because your foals happened to be part of the 10% statistic it caused a simple coincidence. Coat colour has nothing to do with lineage, just probabilities set by programmers. |

Suspiria: They don't mean the actual coat color, but the breed itself, but that is a good explanation for how coat colors work on the game.
demondevon: If you are talking about Elron I have the answer for you. This question pops up often on the US server as well, It confused me for a while even. Elron is a Friesian while both his parents show Gypsy Vanner. The reasoning behind this is that when breeding two 50/50 crosses, even if they are the exact same cross, the foal will always be the breed of the sire's mother (in this case Friesian). If you wanted a Gypsy for the foal, the sire needed to be Friesian dominant, not Gypsy. |

Luminous: thank you that mostly makes sense . it seems weird that in a first generation cross its the sire breed, and then in a second generation cross it is the grandma breed on the sires side. cool, but weird . what is it for a 3rd generation. example: if i breed Elron to a full sibling?

Spirit Of The Raven
His mother Night Of The Raven has passed away and his father Spirit still lives. So I named him Spirit Of The Raven in honor of my horses. |
I've found that cross-breeding horses is a quicker way to get rare coats...

Sorry it took me so long to reply! I have two full siblings, they were the start of my major line over on US. They are TW/TB. The first foal was a TB, but when I bred that foal back to the sire, I got a TW. It starts getting complicated in later generations. I'll use one of my horses from US to explain this. His name is Narcissus. Horse: Narcissus Breed: Quarter Horse Sire: TB/QH (TB) Dam: AT/TB/QH (Teke) Horse: Into The Sun Breed: TB Sire: TB/QH (TB) Dam: QH/TB (QH) These two are father and son. Into the Sun (father) ended up a TB, but his son ended up a QH because Into the Sun had a recessive QH gene. So really it's a bit of a flip which breed you get. Narcissus by the way is the results of 11 months of work and 9 generations |

I crossbred one of my good galloping welshes to a Hanoverian. The result was a fairly versatile horse. Top three skills for showjumping, but could also be a galloper. Top three skills were jumping, dressage and gallop, so extra bonus-only needs one type of ride for blupping!
If anyone wants to see her: Project Pony |
The thread almost fell off the page We need more cross breeders around here.
I have a bunch of crossing projects on the go. Here is the newest addition to my current focus: Kasper I'm quite happy with this little fella! The friesian bloodlines keep dropping the jumping skills and PRE keeps dropping trot but I am managing to get them back bit by bit!

Does anyone know what the best cross would be for Reining?
Can't seem to find any horse that fits the comp. |

I had success with TB/QH crosses on US. There is actually one breed that's specific for that comp, that's the Irish Hunter. Don't know what their GP is like on here though.

I've become a very good crossbreeder on the International server. I'll have to see if I can get the link and post it here.
The current breeds in that bloodline are: Akhal-Teke, Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Highland Pony, Fjord, Friesian, Tennessee Walker, Peruvian Paso, and Marwari. I'm hoping to add Purebred Spanish Horse, Irish Hunter, and Hanoverian. Anyways. Getting a bit off topic. Bought a Friesian filly today, and I'm hoping she'll turn out good and that I'll get some good foals from her.

* I'll have to see if I can get the link to my affix for it and post it here.

Pretty happy with the skills on this guy:
Friesian/Teke It's been hard to get decent GPs on them without the top breeds being in the cross, though. |
Yes, he has nice skills!

Looks like you need an international account to see your link
Any idea what breed you'll cross your filly with? |
