Here we go! A cross breed thread!

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful.


Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales of your horses, or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

This is also *not* a chat topic...Please keep that in mind. If it turns into one, I will be forced to close it down.

Here is my newest crossbreed. She's a Knabstrupper/Friesian cross. Her Sire was the Knabstrupper and her Dam was a Friesian. She ended being a rare coat too!

She was born with good GP and great IBS (inborn skills). Both parents were fully Blupped.

This cross is quite versatile in my opinion.

I'm quite fond of this mix.

The strong jumping skill that knabstruppers posses cancels out the weak jumping skills of the friesian, and all the skills are very balanced I find. Kudos to Sie for creating this fine mix

I just had a seriously weird thought.. Has anyone bred a horse that has every breed in it's lines (excluding donkeys/drafts/special horses)? Like a super crossbreed? I was just wondering if it's been done yet on this server or if anyone has thought of this yet. I'd love a link if you know of a horse like this, or if anyone is working on this!

Please message me, as I don't often check this thread XD

I think this would be best done with foundations of each breed

It might have been done but only 5 breeds are ever shown on a crossbred's genetic tab so it might be impossible to track one down without searching through pages and pages of family trees to actually confim it.

Just bred my first crossbreds. Twin colts that are Hanoverian-Thoroughbred crosses. They are under the tab Colours of the Wind.

Has anyone tried those crosses before? If so, I would love to find out how they turned out.

When I first started on Howrse, all I did was crossbreed whoever my mares were to the top horses who had coverings up. By doing this I got better horses to kick start my game :P
Now, I hardly ever crossbreed, but on ocassion I'll breed a reining horse (QHxTB) and I've even bred a Lippyx Friesian before.

I think I read somewhere that players can get a draft crossbreed with perherons and shires

You could get an All-Star by crossing her with a Tennessee Walker. But really it's whatever you seem to think would be the best. default smiley (y) As far as prices go, crossbreeds generally sell for less than pure, but the better ones can go for more. It all depends on what random person you get that might actually want your foal.
