I'm Dakin (day-kin, Sanskrit), adult, he/they/she is fine!

My name comes from the 1976 book The Farthest-Away Mountain by Lynne Reid Banks. Yes, I know book Dakin is female.

I'm deaf and I love horses, that's the two most important things to know. Oh, and Dr. Pepper. Dr. Pepper is the best.

Hobbies not involving my computer include cross stitch, crochet, Canicross (a dog sport), Urban Agility (another dog sport), and jigsaw puzzles. I'm a terrible cook but I like baking. I used to sew but I've never managed to figure out my new machine.

I'm a TB Fighter and I also support Bat Conservation around the world.

My favorite species is the Australian Spectacled Flying Fox, a species of fruit bat!

I have done many remarkable things, including be on TV, set a world record, discover something scientifically, and also published a book! All by 30.

For work, I run an art studio, selling handmade crochet and cross stitch items.

I used to work at a therapy barn. My failing mobility ended that but I adored the job.

Who is the dog in your avatar?

Miss Nikki, my first service dog. She passed in 2022 but this photo is from 2008.

She was a Chow Chow x Keeshond and she was so very good!!

Do you have a current service dog?

Yes, and Rocket Launcher (husky x APBT) is my avatar on another server I think! She's white with blue eyes.

You've been on Howrse for over 18 years; what is your best accomplishment?

I had the fourth best horse on either US or CA on the second day of the game's existence!

Other than that, going from foundation to 8k GP on my own, with Unicorns.

Are you Canadian?

I am Welsh-American, and I currently live in the southeastern US. So, no.

I was invited to play on CA by some friends after lamenting that INTL was too crowded, and I fell in love with the server.

What's one thing you'd love to see in this lifetime?

The Zhangye Danxia Landform in China! Also called the Chinese Rainbow Mountains.

Do you ride in real life?

No. I can't find a barn that takes deaf riders over the age of 21, unfortunately.

Before my mobility and hearing got so bad, I rode both English and Western.

My dream is to learn Eventing. One day, perhaps....
